★★★★★ McFarland, USA
Although mildly formulaic and predictable, 'McFarland, USA' succeeds because of its emphasis on the characters and culture over sport.

★★½★★ Fifty Shades of Grey
To quote a friend walking out of the screening: “At least it was better than the book.” How’s that for faint praise?

★★★★★ The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1
Although 'Mockingjay - Part 1' is, in essence, a 123-minute teaser for 'Part 2,' it's still just as rich with character, emotion and entertainment as the last 'Hunger Games' installment, 'Catching Fire.'
