'Super 8' Blu-ray Giveaway

One of the best movies of 2011 is headed to Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy on Tuesday, November 22. Thanks to Paramount Home Entertainment, The Reel Place is excited to offer you the chance to win one of six Blu-ray/DVD combo packs of Super 8 before you can buy it.

Written and directed by J.J. Abrams, Super 8 is a highly nostalgic hybrid of thrilling science fiction and child-centric adventure. It’s Abrams’ way of paying tribute to the films of those genres in the late ’70s and early ’80s, especially those of Super 8 executive producer Steven Spielberg. Because the movies Super 8 pays tribute to are the ones that I personally grew up watching, it magically wisps me away to my youth.

Given that not all of you grew up in the exact same era that I did, you probably have a completely different list of films that inspired you in your youth. To enter this contest, we’re asking you to think back to the films of your childhood and share an experience to let us know what movies molded you into the film-lovers you are today and how. So, here’s what you need to do to enter our Super 8 Blu-ray Giveaway:

1. Write a paragraph or two (or as many as it takes) about a nostalgic film from your childhood and how it has stuck with you.

2. Enter it into the comments section below.

3. Copy and paste your story into the body of an email and send it to me (luke@thereelplace.com). Please enter “Super 8” into the subject line and be sure to include your name and mailing address in the body of the email.

4. Be sure to “like” The Reel Place on Facebook (click here if you haven’t already) and follow our new(er) Twitter account (click here).

5. Copy and paste as your Facebook/Twitter status: “I just entered to win a Super 8 Blu-ray from www.TheReelPlace.com”

All submissions must be received by 11:59PM on Monday, November 21. On Tuesday morning, the day that Super 8 hits shelves, we will announce the winners.

Thanks for entering our contest and we look forward to reading your “mint” nostalgic stories!
