Official word has been released concerning the cast of the highly-anticipated follow-up to The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises. Joining Christopher Nolan's cast as Batman's long-time nemesis Bane is Tom Hardy. Hardy is mostly known for playing a G.I. Joe-esque tough guy in Nolan's last film, Inception. Hardy also fantastically played an out-of-the-closet criminal in Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla.
Playing Catwoman Selina Kyle is the gorgeous Anne Hathaway. Most recently seen showing a lot of skin in Edward Zwick's flop romantic comedy Love and Other Drugs, Hathaway has shown her acting muscles in Rachel Getting Married and her action abilities in Get Smart.
Nolan will return to direct the screenplay that he co-wrote with brother Jonathan Nolan. Warner Bros. is set to open The Dark Knight Rises on July 20, 2012. While there has been no official word whether segments will be shot in IMAX (like The Dark Knight), rumors have been flying that Nolan is trying to shoot the entire film in IMAX.
