NOW ON BLU-RAY

Date Night (2010)

Not particularly being a fan of Steve Carell nor Tina Fey, this is one title that I am not sad I wasn’t able to see. Because of another commitment, I missed the one and only press screening. Darn. But who knows – I could be wrong. After all, Date Night is currently “fresh” at 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Blu-ray edition comes with a bonus DVD copy also. Target’s exclusive edition includes a Digital Copy for $24.99, while both Best Buy and Walmart feature an extended edition for the same price.

Death at a Funeral (2010)

This American remake of a hilarious British farce by the same title does nothing but bastardize the original. Only two actors bring heart to this tragic comedy – James Marsden (Enchanted) and Zoe Saldana (Star Trek). The rest of the movie is garbage, showing once again that critically acclaimed playwright Neil LaBute has no business in filmmaking - as if The Wickerman remake and Lakeview Terrace weren’t bad enough. If you are dying to own it anyways, Walmart has the best price at $21.96.

The Joneses (2010)

A quiet little indie film that passed under the radar, The Joneses is one of those small gems that you treasure after discovering it. It is pure, brilliant dark black comedy. David Duchovney (The X-Files) and Demi Moore (Ghost) play the newest couple to move into an upper-class suburbian neighborhood. Because they seem to have it all, every neighbor is trying to catch up to them – only nothing is as it seems. The less you know about The Joneses before meeting them, the better. Best Buy seems to be the only store carrying it and it is priced at $24.99.

National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983)

The movie that started it all. Were it not for Vacation, we wouldn’t have one of the greatest holiday movies of all time – Christmas Vacation. The first thing to come to mind when you think of Chevy Chase is Vacation (unless you have been watching him on TV's Community). Pure and simple, Vacation is a classic comedy. Walmart is selling Vacation for $18.86 this week, as well as…

National Lampoon’s European Vacation (1985)

Not as great as the original, but still a hilarious and worthy sequel. If you grew up watching this movie, you cannot go to Europe without having it come to mind. Walmart also takes the best price at $18.86. FYI, Christmas Vacation is already on Blu-ray.
